Terms of Service
Last updated: August 7, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of CanVest One (“the Service”), operated by CanVest One (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using CanVest One, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, are a resident of Canada, and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. What CanVest One Is (and Isn't)
CanVest One is a secure personal financial operating system designed to centralize your financial life into one place — bank accounts, investments, credit cards, loans, mortgages, bills, tax documents, insurance and estate planning documents, financial reports, budgets, goals, household financial information, AI conversations, and uploaded documents. Its purpose is to help you organize, visualize, and understand your financial life, with Canadian-specific tools for RRSP, TFSA, FHSA, and tax-aware planning.
CanVest One is not a bank, a licensed investment advisor, an accounting firm, a law firm, a tax filing agency, the CRA, or a brokerage.
The information and outputs provided by CanVest One — including dashboards, projections, AI-generated responses, and reports — are for organizational, educational, and planning purposes only. They do not constitute financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, or investment recommendations. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. See our Financial Disclaimer for full detail.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
- Keep your password secure and not share it with others
- Notify us immediately at hello@cvone.ca if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
- Not create multiple accounts to circumvent free plan limits
4. Subscription Plans, AI Access, and Billing
Free: Available at no cost, with limits on the number of accounts, liabilities, goals, and scenarios you can track. Manual entry only — no linked institutions, no CanVest AI access.
Pro: A paid subscription (billed monthly or annually) that removes manual tracking limits and unlocks unlimited deterministic CanVest AI — answers generated directly from your own stored data (not a generative model, not sent to any outside AI provider) — plus linked institutions (investment accounts via SnapTrade today; bank and credit card linking via Plaid as it becomes available) and advanced AI reasoning powered by OpenAI — analysis, forecasts, tax and investment strategy, and coaching.
Current pricing for each plan is shown on our pricing page and in Settings → Billing.
Billing: By subscribing to Pro, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annual, your choice) in Canadian dollars (CAD) via Stripe. You may cancel at any time from Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access to your plan until then.
After cancellation or downgrading: If you have more accounts, liabilities, goals, or scenarios than your new plan allows, those extra items are locked (made read-only) rather than deleted — nothing is removed. If you resubscribe or upgrade again, locked items are restored instantly.
Refunds: We do not offer refunds for partial months. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 14 days at hello@cvone.ca.
Price changes: We will give at least 30 days’ notice before changing subscription pricing, via email or an in-app notice.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute content or data from the Service without permission
- Use the Service to store or transmit malicious code
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Circumvent any security, access control, or rate-limiting measures
- Use the AI assistant to generate harmful, fraudulent, or illegal content
6. Your Data
You retain ownership of all financial data you enter, connect, or upload into CanVest One. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your data.
You grant us a limited license to process and store your data for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you.
You may request deletion of your account and data at any time, either immediately from Settings → Danger Zone or through a formal erasure request in your Privacy Center. See our Privacy Policy for details on data retention and deletion.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free; (b) any financial estimates, tax calculations, AI-generated responses, or projections provided are accurate or complete; or (c) results obtained from using the Service will meet your expectations. Financial calculations and AI outputs are estimates and informational content only, and should not be relied upon for tax filing or major financial decisions without independent verification.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE CANADIAN LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or CAD $100, whichever is greater.
9. Intellectual Property
The CanVest One name, logo, design, code, and content (excluding your user data) are owned by CanVest One and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute our intellectual property without written permission.
10. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in Settings.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we discontinue the Service. If we terminate your account without cause, we will provide a prorated refund of any prepaid subscription fees.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
